Allscirpts’ CEO Glen Tullman has had a good year. Allscripts’ stock is up four-fold, sales are going well and some people think that ARRA/HITECH’s fillup to the healthcare IT industry is mostly his doing–he was an early fundraiser for Obama. Any clouds on the horizon? You’ll have to watch the interview I did with him at HIMSS to find out.

Great interview. Thanks for sharing this video.
The best part of the interview was the information up front about the number of users of Allscripts. I have to think that his numbers on Misys users that move to Allscripts is overstated. I know a lot of those users and they aren’t very happy with the merger and honestly don’t know what they’re going to do.
I’ll be interested to see some actual action of Allscripts EMR interacting with other EMR vendors (minus Epic). Nice of Glen to say it, but yet another to see broad adoption of this sort of sharing.
I also found it interesting (if I heard it right) that Glen didn’t think doctors should just pull out their current practice management and replace it with a different one like Athena might require. This was interesting since the local Allscripts rep that I know thinks keeping your current practice management is a horrible idea.
Excellent interview!
Glen Tullman demonstrates that he is an industry leader with his insights and professional opinions.
