Another physician tool: mPay Gateway interview

While I clear out interviews that I have had in the can that were interrupted by first health reform and then Health 2.0 Europe, here's an interesting one on a very niche application mPay Gateway that helps physicians get paid by allowing them to collect co-pays and co-insurance from consumers.

The interview is with CEO Brian Beutner. Note that since this interview was taken a little over a month ago, mPay Gateway has been getting quite some plaudits from one of their major partners, Allscripts.

  1. Vikram: “If you can’t tell the price before doing procedure then you can’t charge immediately after doing it.” — We at mPay Gateway couldn’t agree more. That is why our system works like checking in at a hotel – at the time of the procedure or service, the practice swipes the patient’s payment card, obtaining the patient’s authorization to charge the card later. The practice doesn’t charge the card until after the patient’s insurer has told the practice what to charge on the patient’s card.
Check out http://www.mpaygateway.com and click on “How it works” to see how simple it can be.

  2. Won’t work here.
“Introducing mPay Gateway, a web based health care software credit card payment system that secures payment from patients before they leave the office.”

Still worth a shot, especially for it’s retail impact.
