Epocrates–reference present and EMR future

I met with Bob Quinn the CTO and Geoff Rutledge, the CMO, of Epocrates at HIMSS last week. The company has a big footprint in mobile (and web) reference content for physicians. The big news is that it’s looking to move into an EMR product. Bob and Geoff explain what they do and where they’re going.

  1. I have had epilepsy since I was in an auto accident in college in the 70’s. I am tired of trying to get my health records from the doctors who own them. Usually, my requests are simply ignored. I believe that my records should be my information and that I should have access and control over this information. Google has an excellent site to store my record on and it’s just as safe as my email account, which I alone have control of. I’m not worried about any conspiracy theories so I would be happy to get this information in my account.

  9. Not sure if there is a such thing anymore as the “small physician” office market…we shall see….

  10. Nowadays many doctors are now taking advantage of the internet to conduct web consultations. Health maintenance reminders that can be automatically generated from an EMR system also contribute to providing improved patient care.
