I have worked in a hospital lab, and I can speak from personal experience in confirming that unnecessary labwork is completed ALL THE TIME. (I mean, here in the States… I don’t know about in Viet Nam.). Sometimes it is an oversight, sometimes it is well-intentioned overkill, sometimes it is part of an overarching protocol for a specific ailment that ought not apply to an individual patient, and of course sometimes it is simply due to someone’s incompetence.
